Nengi Omuku at Frieze London
October 9 – 13, 2024 For the 2024 edition of Frieze London’s curated Artist-to-Artist section, Nigerian artist Nengi Omuku has been nominated by Yinka Shonibare to present a solo project at the fair. Comprising three new paintings made on sanyan, an Aso-oke fabric traditionally crafted by the Yoruba people, Omuku’s work will be suspended within the booth so visitors can view the works in the round, thereby experiencing both the artist’s painting and the handspun quality of the cloth that is so integral to its meaning. The presentation immediately follows Omuku’s first solo institutional exhibition, The Dance of the People and the Natural World at Hastings Contemporary and Arnolfini, and is co-organized by Kasmin, New York and Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, London. Judith Bernstein: Angry Bitches
Independent Art Fair May 11 – 14, 2023 Kasmin is thrilled to present ANGRY BITCHES, the first focused exhibition of Judith Bernstein’s Word Drawings (1989-2009) on the occasion of the Independent Art Fair in May 2023. Expressionistically rendered in charcoal on paper, these works depict texts in an explosively gestural manner, recalling the artist’s iconic anthropomorphic screw drawings from 1969 onwards, as well as Signature Piece (1986), a mural-scaled drawing of the artist’s own name. Bernstein’s choices of words range from the stately Truth, Justice, and Liberty to the more sinister Evil and Fear (all 1995), and the humorous and outrageous Angry Bitches (2009). View More -

This presentation features groundbreaking charcoal drawings created between 1937 and 1940, which Krasner realized while studying under Hans Hofmann in his eponymous School of Fine Arts in New York. Departing from her early representational paintings and drawings, Krasner immersed herself in the principles of Modernism and Cubism that were espoused by Hofmann, who was one of the most influential early catalysts in the development of the Abstract Expressionist movement in the US. Lee Krasner: Solstice Series
ADAA: The Art Show March 1 – 5, 2017 Paul Kasmin is honored to present a selection of work from Lee Krasner’s Solstice Series at ADAA: The Art Show 2017. During the 1980s, Krasner made twenty-one collage paintings that incorporated and re-contextualized fragments of earlier work. Towards the end of her five-decade career, she continued to push the boundaries of her practice with the Solstice Series, revisiting and cannibalizing older works and processes, while demonstrating an acute understanding of language as an integral element of the self.
