This long-awaited monograph presents the breadth of artist JB Blunk's practice and includes never-before-seen archival and newly commissioned photographs of jewelry, ceramics, paintings, furniture, sculpture, and his hand-built house in Inverness, CA. Published by Blunk books and Dent-de-Leone and edited by Mariah Nielson and Åbäke, the book features essays by Lucy Lippard, Glenn Adamson, Fariba Bogzaran and Louise Allison Cort.
Now in it's third edition, featuring a new cover color and artwork.

About the Artist
JB Blunk
Prior to working as a potter’s apprentice in Japan, James Blain Blunk (1926-2002) studied ceramics under Laura Andreson at the University of California, Los Angeles. Blunk’s work has been exhibited worldwide, including solo presentations in the US, UK, and Japan. In 2018, the Oakland Museum of California held a retrospective exhibition titled JB Blunk: Nature, Art & Everyday Life. Also in 2018, a two-person exhibition, In Conversation: Alma Allen & J.B. Blunk, began at the Palm Springs Art Museum then traveled to the Nevada Museum of Art in 2019. The first major monograph on the artist was published in 2020 with contributions by Lucy Lippard, Isamu Noguchi, Fariba Bogzaran and Louise Allison Cort. Blunk’s work is included in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, M+ Museum, Hong Kong, Museum of Arts and Design, New York, Oakland Museum of California, Palm Springs Art Museum, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Smithsonian, Washington D.C., as well as numerous private collections.Learn More -

Elliott Puckette: Unfolding reviewed in The Brooklyn Rail
by Ekin Erkan November 2024Elliott Puckette’s eleventh solo exhibition at Kasmin Gallery, Unfolding, includes two bronze sculptures and eight ink, gesso, and kaolin on wood panel paintings. The latter’s gessoed grounds and ink base layers are applied in marbled monochromatic washes of swirling aniline grey and grisaille silver. Where these iron clouds break, uneven crepuscular cleaves of dusted alabaster light splinter through like lightning. Each work is marked by white razor blade arcs—Puckette’s signature lines. The gyrations of these serpentine, lineal furrows are first etched and then deepened with cross-hatching as Puckette further subtracts the line from the wood panel, the recesses making negative space material. -
