Kasmin x Artsy Benefit Raises $100,000 for Artistic Noise
-
For the second consecutive year, a benefit auction hosted by Kasmin Gallery on behalf of Artistic Noise raised $100,000 through sales of donated artworks by a diverse group of contemporary artists. Kasmin, one of the leading art galleries in the world featuring a program of over forty internationally renowned artists and estates, first partnered with Artistic Noise for a benefit auction conducted on Artsy's platform in April 2023. This year's auction began on May 1 and concluded on May 14, 2024.
Based in Harlem, Artistic Noise has created art in collaboration with thousands of young people aged 14-22 who are incarcerated, on probation, in foster care, unhoused, or otherwise impacted by the juvenile court system. For more than 20 years, Artistic Noise's core programming has included artmaking workshops, courthouse-based alternatives to incarceration programs, drop-in support programs, and large-scale mural projects.
Proceeds from this year's auction will help the organization expand its Art & Entrepreneurship program. Program participants, who are often referred by community organizations, are paid stipends above minimum wage to learn a variety of artistic skills, making pieces that they ultimately sell in one of Artistic Noise’s annual youth art shows.
The funds will also support pay and materials for Artistic Noise's staff of teaching artists and art therapists. Many of the teaching artists are alumni of the Art & Entrepreneurship program and have grown to lead solo art shows at Artistic Noise’s Harlem studio. Art therapists lead programs designed to help participating youth establish and achieve educational and personal goals, increase positive relationships with adults, and connect themselves to a supportive community of their peers.

"The support and empowerment Artistic Noise provides for system-impacted youth in its community is invaluable," said Eric Gleason, Head of Sales at Kasmin, who joined the board of Artistic Noise in August 2023. "They are a true asset to our city and it is an honor for Kasmin to once again partner with them on what was a tremendously successful benefit auction.”
"This partnership with Kasmin is a testament to the transformative power of art and the positive impact it can have on the lives of system-impacted young people," said Calder Zwicky, Executive Director at Artistic Noise. "The funds raised through this auction will allow us to continue offering life-changing experiences and opportunities for personal growth to the youth we serve."
Victoria Hristoff, Artistic Noise’s Director of Art Therapy & Youth Services, added, "We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from Kasmin and the art community. Their generosity has enabled us to grow our programs and reach even more young people, providing them with creative outlets and therapeutic experiences.”
